Kicking off our Black Boy (Man) Joy series, were are interviewing and introducing you to Eric Dizzy, the founder and creator of Black Widow podcast.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your story, how did you get to where you are today?

I started making music in high school back in 2003. I figured that I should learn to DJ so that I could play my own music. I also thought I should make my own beats since I couldn’t afford to pay people for their beats. I went to college for audio engineering so I could tie it all together. After graduating college, my patience for the music industry shrunk so I tried podcasting and it worked. Now I tell the same stories I would have told through my music through my podcast.

What inspired you to start your platform?

My emotions inspired me. I am an emotional ass man! I had to find a way to release these thoughts and emotions in a way that was palatable for people.

Tell us about your greatest moment of Black Boy Joy?

Becoming a father. Witnessing the woman I love deliver someone who looks like me helped me realize that the world is bigger than myself. Being a good father is the joy for me. My projects mean nothing. I’m talented but my talents are only there to provide for my family.

Being a black man means the world to me because it is what I am.

What do you think it means to our community to see Black Men being happy?

I don’t think it means enough. The focus isn’t on men being happy. It never has been. We often don’t even know what makes a black man happy. As a black man, I don’t even know what makes me happy outside of being able to provide for my son. It’s sad but it’s the truth.

What impression or impact would you want to leave on the black community? How does your career, business, brand align with that?

My business and brand is just a by-product of me trying to take care of myself and my family. I just want to keep a smile on my wife and kids face.

Words you live by?

Really find out what makes you happy and run fast in that direction. Don’t take anything personal and understand that NO ONE is coming to save you.

Who has changed/Impacted your life the most and how?

The man in the mirror. Once I stopped ignoring my true potential, my life changed.

How can the community support you and your future endeavors? What should we be looking forward to seeing from you?

The community can support my business by checking out Black Widow Podcast. Right now I am working on 3D audio. I want this erotic podcast to be the best erotic experience ever.
